The southern section of 1900 Fourth is anchored by Maker Hall, a space filled with booths and studios where local artisans can create and sell their work in a shared, lively, market-style environment. This space is designed to celebrate and support West Berkeley’s rich history at the forefront of design and craft goods. The Hall features an open, communal layout, natural materials, high ceilings and plenty of light. The retail booths are “affordable by design,” creating opportunities for many independent retailers and artists to access the retail foot traffic on Fourth St. and build their following with a wide audience of customers.
Maker Hall is designed around a theme of community and creativity. A careful selection of products and artwork styles will create a curated environment and a unique destination in Berkeley, both for makers and customers. The 1900 Fourth team is seeking makers of all types to create a vibrant, diverse community. If you specialize in arts and crafts, jewelry, clothing and accessories, sewing and textiles, home goods, candles, artisan packaged food products, beauty, fine art, photography, gifts or other unique and hand-made goods, we want to meet you!
The Maker Hall space will be anchored by a 705 square foot retail space at the corner of Fourth and University, which will be an open pass-through to the Maker Hall. A secondary entrance exists on University Avenue. The eight stalls in the Maker Hall range from 76 square feet (roughly 9’ x 8’) to 96 square feet (roughly 8’ x 11.5’). Shared bathrooms are provided.
